Review
I admit before i saw this film the other night i had never heard of it and therefore had no expectations of it at all . It had no big release over here in the U.K and i can't understand why John Travolta's Potrayal of a man (more a hadow of a formally great man) is in my opinion his best performance to date there are no big fight sequences no special effects nothing whatsoever to take away or deminish the sheer drama that we see . Scarlett Johansson as the estranged daughter in search of inspiration adds the heart to the piece without playing her character as a soppy constantly crying mess as is often the case in films like this and Gabriel Macht as Bobby's long suffering former teaching assistant and best friend aswell as Pursy's love interest potrays his characters history and life vue point in every word he say's. This film is a hidden gem that i'm glad i found , watched and enjoyed

Review
So as you may well have noticed by the number of posters i have posted for this film that i really like and yes you would be right this film may not be the most cohesive piece but for sheer brilliance of imagery and design there aren't many better main stream Steampunk and i for one want more maybe I'm alone in this but when i watch a Sci Fi /Fantasy film i want to see something that will influence my dreams and this film does just that. Zack Snyder has made a film that has thrown off the shackles of the typical 3d blockbusters that have flooded the multiplexes in the last few years and has made a 2d movie that is truly truly beautiful.and makes a cinematic Luddite like myself very happy .
The films lead cast are varied bunch of talents but for the requirements of the film they do a perfect job and maybe it's because I'm a bloke and i like looking at sexy girls kick ass but maybe it's because the film is a pure work of genius I'd like to think that it's a bit of both.

In The Name Of The Father The Son And The Holy... ... Shit

Cast
Paul Bettany as Priest
Cam Gigandet as Hicks
Karl Urban as Black Hat
Maggie Q as Priestess
Brad Douriff as Salesman

Review
The ideas in this film are plentiful and it's cast of actors do there best with a script that rushes through a multiple of plot points in order to race to a finish that your not ready for , not that it's shocking or anything it just comes too soon. That being said it's vampire's and it's general look are a beautiful sight.
Maybe in years to come another attempt can be made at telling this story and maybe that time they will flesh out the bits that felt thin.
Paul Bettany as the title character is brilliant and i still believe that he will win an Oscar/Bafta at some point. Karl urban further spreads his sci fi action wings as the big bad of the piece but doesn't really get the screen time that he deserves and the same goes for a criminally under used Brad Douriff who until the last five years or so would have been the most famous actor in the film.
Whereas Cam Gigandet's Hicks is a dull and uninspired character who spends most of the film more like a obnoxious teenager that's just been slapped than a tough young sheriff.

Will Colter Save the people on the train ? what is actually going on ? and what is the source code ?

Review
Jake Gyllenhaal once again returns to the realm of  Sci Fi with Source Code The second film from Duncan Jones the director of the sublime Moon and makes it 2 for 2 with a smart and sometimes sweet take on the is this really happening sub genre that in recent years has started to appear more and more in Sci-Fi not that I'm complaining . Don't expect another Moon though as this film delivers something very different. Good twists help a good cast and a good script along with jones masterful direction take a film that could have been terrible and turn it into a triumph , A high octane thriller with balls and heart suitable for beers with the lads or cuddle on the couch with your loved ones .
